On the fourth Tuesday of every month for over 30 years, parishioners from St. Rita have served dinner to approximately 400 less fortunate homeless men and women that receive shelter at the Austin Street Center near downtown. Almost 75 volunteers provide sandwiches, hard boiled eggs, bananas, drinks or desserts each month. The St. Rita School 7th graders also provide sandwiches and help serve dinner during the school year. Our volunteers are usually contacted via email and can choose to sign up to provide a specific type of food and/or help deliver and serve the dinner. Most parishioners on our volunteer list participate about 3 times per year.
