“But all things should be done decently and in order.”
-1 Corinthians 14:40
The Holy Spirit dwells within the whole Body of Christ. Since the beginning of the Church’s history, from Acts of the Apostles through the Rule of Saint Benedict, counsel and collaboration has part of Catholic life. This is true for our life at St. Rita too. Below are some of the councils active at St. Rita’s.
The Pastoral Council
The St. Rita Pastoral Council meets monthly to assist the Pastor in his care of our community. The Pastoral Council serves in an advisory capacity to the pastor and provides input and support to his vision for the parish. The twelve rotating members of the Council are actively involved in the St. Rita community and advise the pastor on all matters that pertain to parish life, and oversee the development and implementation of the Parish Strategic Plan.

The Finance Council
Canon Law requires that all parishes have a Finance Council. St. Rita’s Finance Council provides guidance to the Pastor and the Parish Business Administrator in carrying out their administrative and financial responsibilities relating to St. Rita Parish and St. Rita School. The Council has financial and accounting oversight responsibilities for both Parish and School.
The council consists of the Pastor, the Parish Business Administrator and nine to ten members of the parish who are accountants, lawyers, or other business professionals. One of these members represents the finance committee of the St. Rita School’s Advisory Council. Also included are two ex-officio members (a second Advisory Council member and the Treasurer of the Parents’ Club).

The Stewardship Council
The Stewardship Council is responsible for advising the Pastor about the developments of stewardship as a way of life at St. Rita. The Council plays a special role during our annual Stewardship Renewal by coordinating Community Weekend and ensuring that parishioners who sign up for new ministries are contacted.
Parishioners interested in serving on this Council should expect at least a three-year commitment and a selection process. New members are added as space on the Council permits.
