Join us this fall as we read together the essential texts of Church’s understanding of marriage. Beginning with the study of Scripture, we will move on to read and explore the writings of several Church fathers, Catholic and Protestant texts from the early modern period, and then texts from Vatican II as well as contemporary works. The goal is to familiarize ourselves with the actual writings which form the basis of the Church’s theology and practice. Marriage, obviously, has been a topic of some debate recently. This class provides a unique opportunity to explore the “primary sources” of our tradition and to form one’s opinions more deeply and knowledgeably…beyond shallow thinking and soundbites. This class offers a remarkable and timely opportunity.
You will not need to buy a book! All texts will be provided!
The Theology Guild meets the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm in the St. Rita Dining Hall.
